river – each week at 4pm @ st. anne’s church

welcome to river worship site.  river is but one of the worship expressions of the jeremiah community (we have several other expressions of worship; we meet for morning and evening prayer most weekdays, have a Taize/contemplative prayer service with another church, a weekly hymn sing in a nursing home and also do other stuff – we’re also talking about starting up a bluegrass worship and a high [smells and bells] mass!).

river is best described as eclectic.  though we strive for excellence, we’re not scared of messiness, tripping over our feet, authenticity, creative expression and the like.   some weeks may seem like conventional church.  other weeks might be quite experimental, or even edgy. we welcome real doubts and we welcome unfettered faith – and encourage a dialogue between the two…

we don’t make a strong division between secular and sacred.  you might hear leonard cohen and a chris tomlin praise song back-to-back, or death cab for cutie beside an ancient chant.  there’s bound to be something to nurture and build up – as well as something to challenge.

we meet for river at the beautiful and historic st. anne’s church at 270 gladstone almost every sunday at 4pm (check www.jeremiahcommunity.ca in case there is a change in plans)…

river is a celebration of what Christian’s call “communion” or the “Holy Eucharist”  – where we share bread and wine. we welcome you to the table with us any week.

we also have a childrens’ program and infant supervision most of the the year.

we tend to serve up fair trade coffee and tea and other goodies as you come in.

we’re working on getting this site active.  until we do, check in at www.jeremiahcommunity.ca for updates on river and the other expressions of justice, intentional community, neighbourhood connection and worship that are part of our common life.

check back soon for a bunch of things!
